Samothrace

The ancient soul of an island

unnamed_1

I am sure you all know the island of Samothrace from its famous daughter, the Winged Victory, or Nike tis Samothrakis as we call it in Greece; the unique sculpture made by Parian marble that is displayed at the Louvre since 1884. We had the pleasure to travel to the northeast part of the Aegean and visit the island of Samothrace, which is also unique; an authentic place that took us by surprise with its breathtaking natural beauty and its warmhearted people.

The energy of Samothrace carries elements of a primitive wisdom; one can feel connected with a wave of history, myths and ancient mysteries when looking at Saos -the highest Aegean mountain that locals call Moon- where according to Homer Poseidon sat to watch the Trojan War; or when walking at the Sanctuary of the Great Gods. With a harmonic spirit of unity that is somehow kept alive due to an unharmed natural environment of rich vegetation, rivers, waterfalls and lakes, as well as an abundance of marine life, Samothrace is captivating.

Stay with us, as we will be posting more from Samothrace soon; we can’t wait to share with you stories from the amazing places and the new friends we made there.
